About Internet Fraud

For the past several years I have been doing research about fraud on the internet. It occurred to me that there was a great deal of fraud being perpetrated over the internet, however,  I was unware of any concerted effort by anyone to combat it. I began to wonder whether the government agencies that were supposed to protect us from this sort of thing were too busy dealing with other issues or if they were simply overwhelmed with what can best be described as a monumental task.

As it turned out, government agencies at all levels including local and state agencies, but mostly at the federal level, were working diligently at this huge and daunting task. The FBI and FTC as well as many other government agencies, including, believe it or not, The Secret Service, expend a great deal of time and energy on internet fraud.  Many state and local agencies are also heavily involved.

The following information lists some of the results of my research and provides links to government and private groups that deal specifically with the issue of internet fraud. The reason I am posting this information is that while these agencies are doing a fine job of dealing with the issue, there seems to be a lack of awareness about their efforts. This is my attempt to alert everyone to the fact that you can do something about internet fraud and that it  takes the concerted effort of everyone to help stem the tide.

If you don't think that you have yet to become a victim of internet fraud, think again. Fraud, internet fraud or any other kind of fraud affects us all! It has been reported that fraud and spam together on the internet account for more than half of all traffic on the internet. This slows down our legitimate use of the net, exposes many people and business to financial loss and possible identity theft. Please read all that I have written here, click on the links and become involved in reporting fraud and even attempts at fraud that you encounter.

does nothing because he could only do a little”
